Karleen Tsai-Yip LAc, CMT

Karleen Tsai-Yip is a licensed Acupuncturist (AC14690), Herbalist, and Massage Therapist and is designated a diplomate of Oriental Medicine by NCCAOM (848923). She incorporates hands-on healing techniques with her acupuncture sessions.

She has studied and practiced hands-on healing therapies since 2005 and completed trainings at the Acupressure Institute. Karleen will often incorporate reflexology, massage, gua sha, and other modalities as needed during an acupuncture session.

One of these modalities includes Tui Na, a Chinese medical massage which employs different techniques such as kneading, brushing, tapping, shaking, stretching, rocking and rolling over muscles, joints, and ligaments. It focuses on actively working acupressure points to bring the body back into balance. Tui Na is done through loose, comfortable clothing and works very well to prepare the body to receive acupressure or acupuncture.

She also specializes in Auricular Therapy which uses the ear as a hologram to treat the whole body. Research has shown that acupuncture needles or ear ‘beads’ used to stimulate points on the ear lead to the release of endorphins, which are our body’s natural pain and stress relievers.

Karleen has studied at both the Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine College in Berkeley and the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in Oakland. She holds a BA in History from the University of California, Berkeley, attended the California College of Arts & Crafts, and the Berkeley Psychic Institute. She has studied the writings of Anthony William, aka the ‘Medical Medium’ and incorporates his teachings into her practice. In her spare time, she can be found in her garden growing fruits, veggies and herbs with her husband and their four legged rescue.

Whether you’re new to acupuncture and afraid of needles or a seasoned veteran, Karleen can find the right modality to suit your comfort level and to bring balance and relief.
